LaVon E Fedie
LaVon E. Fedie age 76 of Durand died Friday July 15, 2011 at the home of her daughter in Eau Claire surrounded by her family.
LaVon was born June 24, 1935 in Eau Claire. She was the daughter of Gerald and Edith (Sly) Peterson and was raised in the Eau Galle area by Edith and step-father Stanley Gibson and graduated from Durand High School in 1953. LaVon married Ralph Fedie June 22, 1954 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Eau Galle. After marriage they made their home on the Fedie family Farm in the Town of Lima, rural Durand where they raised their family of five daughters and one son. For the last three years LaVon has resided at her daughter’s home in Eau Claire.
LaVon was an active member of Holy Rosary Parish, Lima Polka Choir, Ladies Alter Society, Pepin County Homemakers, and Catholic Family Life Ins. She was a 4-H Leader for Lima Lads & Lassies for many years. LaVon was a caregiver for her mother and grandmother and several other family members. She also enjoyed farming, making her famous potato salad and doughnuts for the grandchildren and volunteering for friends and neighbors. Most of all, LaVon enjoyed being surrounded by her family.
LaVon is survived by her children, Debra (Ed) Weiss of Woodbury, MN, Steven A. (Barb) Fedie of Durand, Mary (Brian) Van Norman of Menomonie, Linda (Scott) Peterson of Mahtomedi, MN, Karla (Brock) Lunderville of Green Bay and Amy (Chris) Lokken of Eau Claire, grandchildren, Becky (Jared) Leagjeld, Heather (Larry) Gruber, Ryan, Ashley, and Joslyn Fedie, Jesse and Samantha Van Norman, Matthew Peterson and Alexis and Aubrey Lunderville, great grandchildren Karlie and Ajay Gruber, Gabriella Leagjeld and Wyatt Fedie, grand-dog, Moses, half-sisters, Connie Peterson of Eau Claire and Marlys (Ken) Drebenstad of Bloomington, MN, four half-brothers, Marvin (Diane) Gibson of Elmwood, William (Bonnie) of Altoona, David (Joann) Gibson of Eau Galle and Ken (Joan) Gibson of Menomonie, one sister-in-law, Marlene (Duane) Fanetti of Bloomer, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gerald Peterson, Edith Gibson, step-father Stanley Gibson, step-mother, Mildred Yndestad husband, Ralph, one sister, Lois Martin, two half-brothers, Jimmy Gibson and Keith Peterson and one brother-in-law, Kenneth Fedie.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to Amy and Chris for opening their home and hearts to Mom, Dad, the entire family and friends in the last few years.
The family would like to thank St. Joseph’s Hospice for all of the wonderful care they have given to both Mom and Dad over the last few years.
