Cecil W Harmon

Cecil Walter Harmon 90 of Plum City passed away in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family on Friday June 17, 2011.

Cecil was born on November 2, 1920 to Joseph and Frances (Bauer) Harmon in Arkansaw on Maple Ridge. He graduated from Arkansaw High School in 1938. Cecil married Elizabeth (Betty) Miles on December 26, 1940. Cecil was a man of many talents. He was a farmer in the Maple Ridge and Arkansaw areas; a bridge painter in the area including the old Durand bridge; milk hauler (Arkansaw-Rochester Coop.); tavern owner (Harmon’s Bar); a miller (owned and operated the Arkansaw Mill). After his farm auction he worked for Weiser Concrete as a Sales Rep. He then bought the Massey Ferguson dealership in Arkansaw and then moved it to the Grange Hall area.

After selling his business and retiring in 1984, he and Betty built their retirement home in Plum City. They moved in time for the annual family Christmas Eve celebration. Cecil loved life and among his passions were hunting, playing baseball, playing cards with family and friends, snowmobiling, an avid Packer fan. His summers were spent managing two fantasy baseball teams. He loved spending time at his hunting cabin in Barnes. Cecil had the gift of gab as he was very much a people person.

Cecil is survived by his wife Betty; his children, Judith (Jack) Scholz of Barnes; Marsha (Dave) Schlosser of Durand; Linda (Cal) Schladweiler of Centuria; Nancy (Jim) Helmueller of Pardeeville; Lonnie Harmon of Plum City; son-in-law, John Wiskerchen of Snohomish, WA; 19 granchildren; 30 great grandchildren; a sister Dianne (Robert) Marier of Cottage Grove, MN; brothers-in-law, Jim Miles of Arkansaw, Don Bosacker of Whittier, CA; sisters-in-law, Audrey Radle of Huntington Beach, CA, Nell Harm of Simi Valley, CA, Barb Harmon of Plum City and Judy Harmon of Menomonie.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Jacquelyn Wisckerchen; grandson, Bart Schlosser; brothers Wayne, James, Raymond, Robert, Dennis, Joe Jr. and infant Lewis; sisters, Leona Schmitt, Doris Stroot and Phyllis Bosacker.
