John M Houle
Dr. John Houle, age 88 of Menomonie, passed away on May 10, 2011 at the Red Cedar Medical Center in Menomonie.
John was born on February 18, 1922 in Milwaukee. He was the son of Henry and Eva (Greeley) Houle. John grew up in Menomonie and graduated from Menomonie High School. After school, John attended UW Madison before joining the U.S. Navy where he became a naval aviator. He served as a pilot during WWII aboard the USS Wasp and during the Korean War aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. John earned his Bachelors degree from the University of St. Louis. He earned his Masters degree from UW Stout and his PHD from UW Madison. John retired from Stout where he was a faculty member for a number of years.
John was an avid fly fisherman, and in his younger years, John loved to ski and play tennis. He also loved to read and had an insatiable thirst for knowledge.
John is survived by his two sisters, Mary Ann Dufour of Maplewood, MN and Patricia Peloquin of St. Paul, many nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Maxine Sanna.
