Mother lived a full, creative life. There was little she would not tackle! She worked as a domestic helper prior to her marriage to John in 1940. They farmed in Dunn County. In the spring of 1957, due to Dad’s ill health, they moved to Menomonie. Her work consisted of babysitting, taking in laundry, painting, wallpapering, and cake decorating. We remember the many celebration cakes she made for family, friends, and others, Unforgettable! In 1967, mom became employed by Stout University in the housekeeping department and retried in 1983. In retirement, volunteering at the Senior Center, taking bus trips, and doing some international travel with her sister and niece filled her days.
Lorraine is preceded in death by he parents, husband, siblings, Evelyn Beguhn; Edna Sitzman; Vernon Hintz; Vernetta Behling; in-laws, Herb Beguhn, Richard Sitzman; Jean Hintz, Barb Hintz, Ed & Ann Hofacker, Rose & Lawrence Hofacker, Elsie & Ray Gatten; Joe Wedam; Louise & Herb Steinke, Mary & Bob Spindler and Alvin Wedam.
Her family is deeply grateful to all the people who make the Colfax Health & Rehab. Center the kind of home where the residents are number one. Everyone there was so kind, thoughtful, and respectful of Mom. We are also thankful for out “heaven sent” caregiver, Amber Buck, who made it possible to keep Mom in our home until she needed more care than the family could provide.
