Roland Peterson
Roland L. “Rollie” Peterson, age 67 of Hatfield, died Saturday, March 19, 2011 at his home in Hatfield.
Rollie was born July 2, 1943 in Park Falls. He was the son of Reginald and Alice (Walker) Peterson. Rollie grew up in Park Falls and attended Park Falls High School. After school, Rollie worked at the paper mill in Park Falls until 1970 and then attended UW Eau Claire and UW Stout. Rollie married Kaye Neumeister in 1965. They had four children together and later divorced. He owned eight taverns, six in the Menomonie and Eau Claire area, selling the last one in 1990. Rollie then worked at Swiss Miss in Menomonie until recently retiring. On December 13, 2006, Rollie married Lea Miller in Menomonie.
Rollie liked to fish, trap, cut wood, spend time outdoors and bowl. He enjoyed going to the Bayou Boogie in Grand Portage Minnesota, with his wife Lea. Rollie looked forward to hunting with his son and grandsons.
Rollie is survived by his wife Lea, four children, Tom (Linda) of St. Joseph, MO, Tami (Boon) Engebretson of Wheeler, Bobbie (Anthony) Auci of Atlanta, GA and Mandi (Brandon) Johnson of Forest Lake, MN, eight grandchildren, Tosten, Chandler, Justin, Nathan, Allison, Jacob, Samantha and Haley, one brother, Larry of Park Falls, one sister, Jan (Ron) Schoch of Park Falls, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Stephen McCoy and one sister-in-law, Sandy Peterson.
A celebration of life will be held from 4-8 PM Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Menomonie.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials if desired, may be made to the Dunn County Fish and Game Association in Rollie’s name.
