Madolyn L Weldon
Madolyn L. Weldon, Beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, age 87, of Plum City, passed away peacefully at the Plum City Care Center, where she has been a resident since July, 2009, on February 27, 2011. Madolyn was born on December 14, 1923, the only child of Oscar W. and Ella L. (Priess) Anderson, in rural Maiden Rock.
Madolyn attended school in Maiden Rock, graduating from High School in 1942. She furthered her education by attending River Falls Teachers College graduating with a degree in Early Education in 1945. She taught school in Maiden Rock, Ellsworth and Plum City. After the birth of her sons, Madolyn continued her education at River Falls State College where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. In 1976 she received certification from the State of Wisconsin as a certified Special Education Teacher. She taught school in Plum City for 27 years, retiring in 1986. Madolyn was passionate about teaching her students as she believed it was the foundation for all future learning. She used her teaching skills to help her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Madolyn married Robert Weldon on December 26, 1945 at the Plum City Methodist Church. Two sons were born to Madolyn and Robert, William (Bill) and James.
Madolyn was a dedicated member of the Plum City Immanuel Lutheran Church, being involved in the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Plum City American Legion Auxiliary and Wisconsin Retired Teachers Association. Madolyn enjoyed collecting antiques, day adventure Sunday drives, playing cards, and especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Madolyn is survived by her sons, William (JoAnn) Weldon of Plum City and James (Louise) Weldon of Eagan, MN, six grandchildren, James (Sandi) Weldon, Robert (Trisha) Weldon, Jennifer Weldon, Emily (Thomas) Gruber, Madison and Andrew Weldon, six great grandchildren, Julia, Breck and Eva Weldon, William and Noah Gruber and Olivia Weldon and one cousin, Milton Priess. She is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Ella Anderson, husband, Robert, a special uncle, Edwin, Priess and other uncles and cousins.
