Rose T Black
Rose T. Black, age 97, of Durand, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 4, 2011 at the Chippewa Valley Hospital in Durand.
Rose was born February 16, 1913 at home in the Town of Lima, Pepin County, rural Durand. She was the daughter of Anton and Mary (Falkner) Hengst. She grew up in the Lima community. Rose attended and graduated from Lima High School. She married Raymond Black November 3, 1932 at Lima. After marriage they worked for the Arkansaw Telephone Company, Raymond was the lineman and Rose was the operator. In 1936 they went farming in Arkansaw. In the spring of 1941, they moved Chase Hill area, rural Plum City, and remained there the rest of their lives. Raymond died November 17, 1976. Rose has been a resident of the Oakview Care Center in Durand since July 2007.
Rose is survived by one son Wilbur of Plum City, two daughters, Delores (Walt) Hermundson of Durand, Norma Chilson of Plum City, daughter-in-law, Therese Black of Rock Elm, six grandchildren, Sandy Hermundson (Warren VanRanst) of New Richmond, Karen (Steve) Bauman of Wausau, Chris (Lori) Chilson of Arkansaw, Curt Chilson of Arkansaw, Kim (Mark) Unser of Eau Galle and Kelly (Scott) Kuehl of Red Wing, MN, five great grandchildren, Dani, Jacky and C.J. Chilson, Hunter Unser and Lexi Kuehl. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Raymond, two daughters, Audrey and Carolyn, one son, Daniel, son-in-law, Rich Chilson, six sisters, Agnes (Al) Poeschl, Lucy (Percy) Buckwheat, Addie Mae (Edward) Schneider, Margaret (Harlan Sloop, Mary (Wilfred) Traun, Clara (Ed) Pomasl and one brother, Tony Hengst.
