Daniel W Weber
Daniel “D.W.” W. Weber age 78 of Elmwood,
Died: Friday January 28, 2011 at the Red Cedar Medical Center in Menomonie after a brief struggle with Esophageal Cancer.
Dan was born to Phillip and Margaret (Weisenbeck) Weber February 6, 1932 in rural Elmwood. He attended Rock Elm State Grade School and graduated from Elmwood High School in 1950. Dan served in the U. S. Air Force from 1950 to 1954. On January 17, 1956 he married Myrna M. Bauer at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima, rural Durand. Born to this union were five children; Jody, Jeff, Terry, Tammy and Tim.
Dan hauled livestock to South St. Paul and did road construction for a few years. In 1959 he bought, owned and operated Weber Oil Co. in Elmwood until he sold the business in 1976. He then became a Ford Technician and worked at Weber Motors in Elmwood retiring in 1997. During all those years he also drove a full time bus route for the Elmwood School District. For 38 of those 50 years and four months he also drove the boy’s football and basketball team’s bus to all their away games. He also made a lot of field trips, filling in when and wherever he was needed. This was a longevity record at the school district of Elmwood. Dan also served on the Elmwood Village Board for six years, and was a member for many years of the Crain-Ottman American Legion Post 207 of Elmwood and the Elmwood Rod and Gun Club.
Dan is survived by his wife, Myrna; children, Jody (Tony) Engeldinger of Elmwood; Jeff (Jo) of Eagan, MN; Terry (Launa) of Elk Mound; Tammy (Keith) Brahmer of Spring Valley; Tim (Kristy) of Woodbury, MN; 12 grandchildren Heather, HaLee, Natalie (Paul), Ross, Kaitlyn, Julia, Jenna, Cory, Nick, Jake, Ben, Katie; four great grandchildren, Sierra, Britain, Boston and Paige; six sisters, Elaine (Lon) Thompson of Prescott; Joyce (Lester) Hines of Ellsworth; Carol Wittig of Las Vegas, NV; Mary Webb of Elmwood; Margie (Jim) Carter of Wheeler; Barb (Kelly) Rassbach of Menomonie; five brothers, Phil Jr. (Jane) of South Milwaukee; Patrick (Marlene) of Rome; Tom (Sharon) of Elmwood; Leon (Shirley) of Hartland; David (Christine) of Waukesha; several brothers and sisters-in-law, many nieces nephews and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Jamie Brahmer, two brothers, Roger and Delbert, brothers-in-law, Jack Wittig and Morris Webb.
