Lennis M Kane
Lennis Mary Kane, age 87 of Plum City, died Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.
Lennis was born on August 13, 1923 at home in the Spring Valley area. She was the oldest daughter of Malcolm and Bertha (Horsman) Grant. She attended schools in the Plum City area. After school, Lennis worked at Brown & Bigelow in St. Paul during World War II. Lennis married Sheldon “Bud” Kane on January 24, 1945 in Clayfield, rural Ellsworth. After marriage, they raised their family and farmed in the Grange Hall area of Pierce County for all of their lives. She worked at Wieser Concrete as a bookkeeper for many years. Lennis and Bud moved to Plum City in 1987 where she remained the rest her life.
Lennis was very active in St. John’s Church in Plum City, helping out where she was needed. She was a wonderful, loving mother and grandmother and was a gift to her friends and neighbors. Lennis loved to cook, entertain, play cards, scrap booking and dominos. She also kept her journal, enjoyed traveling the country, knitting and crocheting. Most of all, Lennis loved to spend time with family and friends.
Lennis is survived by her children, Jerome of Maiden Rock, Kathleen (Doug) Biesterveld of Bloomer, Donald (Theresa) of Plum City and Michael (Patricia) of Maiden Rock, 11 grandchildren, Jennifer, Erica, Renee, Terry, Monica, Brian, Jeff, Erin, Laura, Mary and Scott, 10 great grandchildren, five brothers, Pat (LaVera) Grant of Amery, Dennis (Maria) Grant and Steve (Helen), both of Phoenix, AZ, Greg (Sheila) of Holmen and Jeff (Ellie) Grant of Summerset, KY, one sister, Sheila (Tony) Kvapil of Chippewa Falls, two sisters-in-law, Audrey and Cathy Grant, two brothers-in-law, Ray Eakins, Roger O’Neil, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband “Bud” (2008), 2 daughters-in-law, Sandy Kane and Kathy Kane, two brothers, Mike and Douglas Grant, six sisters, Barbara Pedersen, Rita Eakins, Wilma Eakins, Gloria Denny, Monica Kapheim, Madonna O’Neil.
