Margaret M. “Weiss” Weisenbeck, age 95 of Durand, died Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at the Oakview Care Center in Durand.

Margaret was born on January 21, 1915 in the town of Lima, rural Durand. She was the daughter of Vincent and Bertha (Weissinger) Weiss. Margaret attended school in Lima. After school, Margaret cooked for many weddings in the area and helped her parents on the farm. Margaret married William E. Weisenbeck on May 3, 1938 at Holy Rosary Church in Lima. After marriage, they resided and farmed on the William Weisenbeck farm in Buffalo County. She was a devoted wife and mother, raising her family and working on the farm. In 1975, Margaret and Bill sold the farm and later moved to the City of Durand. For the last six years, Margaret has been a resident of the Oakview Care Center in Durand.

Margaret was an active member of St. Mary’s Church, St. Mary’s PCCW, Buffalo County Homemakers and 4-H Groups. Margaret enjoyed traveling and playing cards. Most of all, Margaret enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

Margaret is survived by her children, Mary (Anthony) Helmueller of Buffalo City, Sharon (Peter) Malin of Louisville, KY, Monica (Douglas Sr.) Stuart of Wagoner, OK, Bill (Linda) of Nelson and Mike (Kathy) of Durand, 14 grandchildren, Edward Jon, Beth, David, Douglas Jr., Margaret, Katherine, Emily, Jason, Paul, Billy, Tessa, Ann, Jacquelyn and Michael, 12 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband William E. Weisenbeck (2002), one granddaughter, Sharon Ann Helmueller (1961), three brothers, Hubert Weiss, Raymond Weiss and Wilfred Weiss, two sisters, Lucy Chilson and Ann Weiss.
