Evelyn G Todd
Evelyn G. Todd, age 94 of Eau Galle, died peacefully in her sleep Saturday, September 4, 2010 at the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home in Elmwood.
Evelyn was born on April 27, 1916 in Eau Galle. She was the daughter of William and Emma (Lehman) Kelm. Evelyn grew up in the Eau Galle and Elmwood area and attended Hall Country School. She worked for families around the area for a short while. Evelyn married Galen Todd on October 23, 1934 in Plum City. After marriage, they had their son Leonard and they farmed together in Eau Galle for all of her life. She also worked in the Durand Canning factory and Huntsinger Farms for several years. Until just recently she lived at her home in Eau Galle.
Evelyn loved to play the accordion and sing in nursing homes around the area in a group called “The Old Grannies.” She loved to cultivate corn, mow the lawn and winter trips to Florida and Arizona. Evelyn will always be remembered for her sugar cookies, which she never gave out the recipe for. While the family was out haying, she would make a homemade chocolate cake every day that the family would run in grab it in between loads. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially sneaking coffee to her grandchildren.
Evelyn is survived by her husband of 75 years, Galen, one son Leonard (Geri) of Elmwood, four grandchildren, Tammy Baier of Eau Galle, Gerilen (Bill) Anderson of Baldwin, Traci (Richard) White of Menomonie and Ty (Kathy) of Elmwood, 15 great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, one sister Violet Sand of Eau Galle, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Viola Kelm and Alice Glaus.
