Frank G Wild
Frank G. Wild, age 83 of Elmwood, died Monday, July 19, 2010 at the Red Cedar Medical Center in Menomonie.
Frank was born on January 8, 1927 on the home farm in the Town of Rock Elm. He was the son of George and Julia (Jacobson) Wild. Frank grew up on the family farm and graduated from the Elmwood High School in 1944. He attended college at River Falls for one year before joining the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan during WWII. Frank married Nona Lewis on October 4, 1949 in Plum City. After the service he returned to Elmwood where he farmed with his dad and uncle. Frank later took over the family business and farmed for many years until he retired. Even during retirement he continued to live and work on the farm.
Frank enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time at the cabin in Trego with his family and friends. Frank and Nona enjoyed traveling and, in retirement they spent time in Gulf Shores, AL.
Frank is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nona, three daughters, Kathy (Mike) Miller of Elmwood, Jean (David) Podoll of Fall Creek and Mary (Ted) Poplawski of Schofield, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one sister, Lois Fosselman of Connellsville, PA, one brother-in-law, Donald Hansen of San Antonio, TX, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Virginia Hansen.
