Lila R. Herrley, age 85 of Plum City

Died: May 6, 2010 at the Chippewa Valley Hospital in Durand.
It was December 23, 1924 when Art and Laura (Johnson) Rustad became the parents of a little girl. They named her Lila Rosella. She was raised on the farm. She had three sisters, Lorene, Gladys and Arlene. They all went to a one room school house called Cascade. Lila finished the eighth grade, and then went to work. She worked at a few places in Nelson and helped new mothers with house work. She also worked as a maid for Gen and Sam Codden in Durand. Lila worked in a little café called The Salad Bowl for Blanche Van Brunt. She worked at the Dairy Queen and the Ben Franklin Store in Durand. From there she worked at Plum City Schools as a cook. She also cooked in Ellsworth Ron Miller, Carole Hines and Paul Feldman for 10 years. From there she went back to Durand to cook for Ed Brunner at the Durand Cafe.
Lila married Harold Bechel in 1945. Together they had three Children, Harold F., Lonnie and Kathie. They divorced in 1974. Lila also has 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, two step children and two step great grandchildren.
Lila married Al Herrley in October of 1977. They lived in Plum City, and then moved to a little farm near Lund. Lila was a great Seamstress, cook and dancer. She loved playing cards, dance, especially the Polka, entertain and garden. She loved her family, enjoyed her grandchildren and her little pet animals, Peanut and Simon. On May 6th as the sun was rising and the birds were singing, the angels came and took Lila to meet our Lord and Savior.
Lila is survived by her husband Al, her children, Harold F. (Linda ) Bechel of Plum City, Lonnie (Becky) Bechel of Hagar City, Kathie Bechel (friend: Dutch Elbe) of Elmwood, 10 grandchildren ,Jeff, David, Greg, Steven, Brandon, Beckie, Corey, Jody, TJ and Justin, 10 great grandchildren, Chris, Joey, Ryan, Hailey, Samantha, Timothy, Gage, Sophie, Logan and Mitchell, two step-grandchildren, Jeff and Pam, two step-great grandchildren, Brody and Chloe, two sisters, Arlene Hunt of Seattle, WA and Gladys Strand of Eau Claire. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Lorene Bechel and her first husband Harold A. Bechel.
