Dorothy A. McMahon, age 82 of Durand, died Friday, April 9, 2010 at the Trempealeau County Health Care Center in Whitehall.
Dorothy was born on July 8, 1927 in Boscobel. She was the daughter of John and Lillian (Stein) Wayne, she grew up in Durand and graduated from Durand High School. Dorothy married Donald McMahon on March 1, 1949 in Durand. She worked various jobs around the area but Dorothy worked the longest at Safeway Inc. in Durand. Dorothy retired in 1987. She has been a resident of the Trempealeau County Health Care Center since July of 2009.
Dorothy and Donald did a lot of traveling, living in Arizona and Florida. Dorothy enjoyed line dancing and was president of the Sunset RV Resort and did the entire event planning there. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends.
Dorothy is survived by her four sons, Michael (Vickie) of Abbotsford, Brian (Marie) of Altoona, Tim of Athens, GA and Kevin (Pam) of Billings, MT, two daughters, Diane (John) Carroll of Annandale, MN and Marsha (Brian) Sullivan of Owatonna, MN, 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, four brothers, Roy Wayne of Downsville, Jonathan “Bill” Wayne, Robert Wayne and James Wayne, all of Durand, three sisters, Eleanor Johnson of Minneapolis, Hazel Swanson of New Mexico and Helen Prissel of Durand, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donald, one daughter-in-law, Kathy (Tim) McMahon, two brothers, Earl Wayne and Harvey Wayne in infancy and one sister, Mary Buccholtz.
