Oliver J Helmueller
Oliver J. Helmueller, age 90 of Plum City, died Thursday, April 8, 2010 at the Chippewa Valley Hospital in Durand.
Oliver was born on February 11, 1920 in Plum City. He was the son of Jacob and Edyth (Blomstrom) Helmueller. Oliver grew up in the Plum City area and attended Plum City Schools. He was drafted in to the United States Army in 1942. Oliver served in the European Theatre in WWII and was awarded the Bronze Star. Oliver married Marie Tschumperlin on September 23, 1943 at St. Johns in Plum City. After Oliver was honorably discharged from the service, he and Marie farmed in the area for many years. Oliver did electrical work until he retired in 1982. Oliver and Marie moved into the Village of Plum City in 1998.
Oliver was a longtime member of the American Legion Plum City Post #365. He was also a “Handy-Man” to a lot of people who needed his help and he could make anything work. Oliver loved to go fishing, hunting, camping and playing cards. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Oliver is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marie, eight children, Dan (Joyce) of Roberts, Jim (Nancy) of Sun Prairie, Pat Pizzi of Menomonie, Alan (Cheryl) of North Pole, AK, Lois Hoffman of Menomonie, Rita (Rick) Robey of Hudson, Peter (Irene) of Maiden Rock, Adele (Barry) White of Plum City, 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, three brothers, Eugene (Irma) of Plum City, Jerome (Barbara) of Capri, TX and Robert (Mary) of St. Paul, MN, four sisters, Dorothy Helmueller of Plum City, Thelma (Russ) Ek of St. Paul, MN, Marjorie Dahl of Radcliff, KY and Ruthann (Howard) Olson of Millington, TN, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, two grandsons, Patrick Pizzi and Merton White, one son-in-law, Jerry Hoffman, two brothers, Delbert and Ronald.
