Donald E Glaus
Donald E. Glaus, age 88 of Eau Galle died Sunday, April 4, 2010 at the Chippewa Valley Hospital in Durand.
Don was born on October 27, 1921 in Plum City. He was the son of Allen and Christie (Hei) Glaus; he grew up in rural Plum City and attended Plum City Schools. Don married Margaret “Peg” Keeler on October 27, 1943 at St. Joseph’s in Arkansaw. After marriage, they farmed on Chase Hill for 35 years before retiring and moving into Eau Galle. Don had several side jobs after retirement, working at the Durand Canning Company, the Eau Galle Cheese Factory and Doboy Metric in Menomonie. Since 1974, Don and Peg have lived in Eau Galle.
Don enjoyed woodworking and had his own woodworking shop, playing cards, he enjoyed hunting, especially deer hunting getting his last deer at the age of 85, fishing, snowmobiling and the daily walks from the house to St. Henry’s Church for mass. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Don is survived by his wife of 66 years, Peg, one son, David (Bev) of Elmwood, three daughters, Myrna (Lynn) McRoberts of Eau Galle, Gail (Bernie) Feuker of Chippewa Falls and Donna (Jim) Weber of Eau Claire, 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, two brothers Jim (Marie) and Loren (Arlene) Glaus, both of Plum City, two sisters, Elaine Aitken of Wabasha and Rita (Denny) Oberding of Baton Rouge, LA, a special nephew, Tom Klein of Arkansaw, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Lyle, Les and Duane Glaus and two sisters, LaVerle Black and Maxine Poeschel.
