Audrey A. Tschumperlin, age 72 of Elmwood passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at her home in Elmwood.

Audrey was born on June 8, 1937 to Carl and Lucy (Youngman) LaBrec. She grew up on a farm in rural Arkansaw, attended a country grade school and graduated from the Arkansaw High School in 1955. Audrey married Harold Tschumperlin on February 12, 1957 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Arkansaw. After marriage, they moved to a farm near Elmwood, where they lived for the next 33 years. In 1989, they moved to the village of Elmwood. Audrey worked for the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home for nine years.

Audrey enjoyed playing cards, old time music and trips to the casino. While raising her family, she was a member of the Plum City Legion Auxiliary #365; she was a member and past president of the Alter and Rosary Society of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elmwood, a charter member of the Triple Hill Birthday Club until it disbanded after 49 years of celebrating neighborhood birthdays and playing cards. Audrey enjoyed square dancing and taught polka dancing for a time. Audrey and Harold were members of a neighborhood card club for a time and she was also involved in the Farmer’s Union Youth Group. She enjoyed playing piano and was a church organist for a time prior to marriage. Harold and Audrey enjoyed traveling and they spent nine winters in Apache Junction, Arizona.

Audrey is survived by her husband of 53 years, Harold, four sons, Michael (Marybeth) of Elmwood, Robert (Sally) of Durand, James (Cheri) of Fairmont, MN, Joseph (Chris) of Beaver Dam, one daughter, Nancy Tschumperlin of Colorado Springs, CO, grandchildren, Nick, Amy, Kyle, Rachel, Sarah, Eric and Luke Tschumperlin, one sister, Jean (Melvin) Bechel of Eau Claire, one brother, James (Shirley) LaBrec of Arkansaw, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Mary Lou (in infancy) and Carol Wolf.
