Frances M Hickey

Frances M. Hickey, age 97 of Menomonie, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at the Red Cedar Medical Center in Menomonie.
Frances was born in Elk Mound on November 23, 1912 to Francis and Elnora (Hanson) Michelbook and grew up in Menomonie and graduated from Menomonie High School. In the 1930s, Frances was part owner of a women’s dress shop known as The Trio Shop. She was truly a woman ahead of her time and ran a very successful business. Frances married John Harold Hickey of Reedsburg on January 5, 1945.
In addition to raising a family, she was active in her community over the years. She was a long time member of the Menomonie Women’s Club and an active participant in the restoration of the Mabel Tainter Theatre. Frances was a member of the Indian Head Girl Scouts Council and served as a member of the board. She was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary, the Dunn County Historical Society and a devoted member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Frances is survived by her four daughters, Mary Teloh, Patricia (Al) Kiegel, Kathy (Les) Kuhn and Julie (Lee) Hunsucker; seven grandchildren, Sally, Liz, John, Andy, Sarah Kirsten and Howie; three great grandchildren, Julia, Andrew and Barrett; many nieces, nephews and special neighbors. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold (1972) and two sisters, Virginia Larson and Ethel Galoff.
