Donald L Bauer
Donald L. Bauer age 73, of Durand,
Born: March 4, 1934
Died: peacefully with hospice care and family by his side on Monday, December 31, 2007 at the American Lutheran Home in Mondovi.
Donald was the son of Anton and Mabel (Bauer) Bauer, he attended and graduated from the Lima Schools in 1952. After high school he spent two years in the Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Panama. After the service, Donald returned home to the family farm, where he remained the rest of his life. On September 9, 1961, Donald married the love of his life, Rose M. Hanson. Donald bought the family farm in the late 60’s where Rose and Don raised their seven children.
Donald served on the Lima Town Board for 15 years, he was a member of the Lima School Board and an active member in the church. Donald’s true passion in life was farming, he never retired and just loved to be out driving tractor or working with his cattle. Donald was an avid Packer and Chicago Cubs fan. He was a member of the American Legion Hall. Donald enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Donald is survived by two daughters, Donna Loken of Eau Claire and Dana (Stephen) Schmidt of Appleton, five sons, Patrick (Stacy) of Farmington, MN, Glen of Durand, Stephen (Lynn) of Stanley, William (Sarah) of Mondovi and Daniel (Sara) of Ramsey, MN, 14 grandchildren, one sister, Sr. Marlene Bauer of LaCrosse, two brothers, James (Judy) of Hudson and Dennis (Eileen) of Minneapolis, MN, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rose in 2000 and one brother, Gerald Bauer.
