John C Bauer

John C. Bauer, age 73 of Durand, now WALKS in heaven, leaving his courageous life here on earth dealing with Multiple Sclerosis on Sunday, August 30, 2009.
John was born on May 16, 1936 in the Town of Lima, rural Durand, where he was raised as a devote Catholic on the family farm. He was the son of Allie and Marian (Komro) Bauer. John married Darleen Semingson on June 4, 1958 at St. Patrick’s Church in Eau Claire. After marriage, they farmed in the Town of Lima for 10 years until his health forced him to leave his love of farming and move into the city of Durand. John spent the remainder of his life coping with his failing health, but he was still able to raise his children with his wife. He went into the nursing home in 1986 which became his new home until the end.
In spite of his difficult life, John always had a sense of humor, loved a good joke and liked to tease everyone. He would have the biggest smile for his family, friends and anyone he met. His favorite thing was to play cards, especially a game of 500. John was always so complimentary and thankful for everything and to everyone. He never complained -- an inspiration to everyone. All who knew him will miss him.
John is survived by Darleen, who he always loved, five children, Sheri (Bob) Kremer of Jim Falls, Lisa (Elmer) Winter of Durand, Jacqueline (Dan) Lehman of Baldwin, Colette (Don) Weiss of Durand and John (Nicki) Bauer of Troy, MI, 15 grandchildren, Curt (Theresa) Kremer, Nicole (Jason) Goerges, Taya Kremer, Elmer (Monica) Winter, Tiffany (Ben Nummerdor) Winter, Justin Winter, Natasha (Jason) Young, Benjamin (Robyn) Lehman, Jordan Lehman, Nathan, Noah, Naomi, Nora Weiss, Zachary and Spencer Bauer, two great grandchildren, Hunter and Autumn Winter, three brothers, Jerry (Arlene) Bauer of Durand, Duane (Marie) Bauer of Menomonie and Loren (Peggy) Bauer of Bay City, one sister, Pamela (Tony) Gansluckner of Plum City, one brother-in-law, Merlin Becker.
