Elwood L "Dugie" Manor
Elwood L. “Dugie” Manor age 84 of Menomonie, passed away Sunday evening July 5, 2009 surrounded by his family, from complications following surgery at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.
Elwood was born February 2, 1925, near Eau Galle, the youngest of seven children to David and Hattie (Hoyt) Manor. He grew up on the family farm in the Township of Eau Galle where he lived for 18 years. Elwood served with pride as a gunner with the U.S. Navy in WW II, aboard a number of ships including the battleship Iowa BB-61, in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean combat areas. After the service, he worked for Presto in Eau Claire for a short time, he then moved to Menomonie where he hauled milk for Kenny Amundson. In 1948 he met and married Lorraine Hobbick and began working for the City of Menomonie, where he spent 27 years and made many life long friends. Elwood loved the visits from his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Elwood is survived by his wife, Lorraine; six children, Richard (Donna) Manor of Weyerhaeuser; Diane (Michael) Werner of Stoughton; Darlene (Bruce) Schley and Duane (Darcy) Manor both of Menomonie; Dale Manor of Milwaukee; Denise (John) Risler of Menomonie; one sister-in-law, Loretta Manor of Eau Claire; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Ray, Norman and Blaine; three sisters, Pearl Luther, Hazel Prissel and Etta Kraft.
