Jean Marie Fredrickson of Durand died peacefully in the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 18th, 2025 at Wilkinson Woods Assisted Living in Oconomowoc Wisconsin. 

She was born January 22, 1942 to Alfred and Irene LaPean.  Jean was united in marriage to William “Bill” Fredrickson on May 22, 1965.  Jean was a long-time employee of the Durand School District retiring in 2006.

In her younger years, Jean enjoyed camping with her family, watching “parades” with neighbors, and visiting family.  In her later years, she enjoyed watching basketball games, playing Yahtzee, and spending time outside. Jean was affectionately referred to as the “Yahtzee Queen” among her family and was a lifelong Badger fan.

Jean maintained a positive attitude as she faced many challenges in her final year of life.  She was known for her smile and described as a “bright light” by her caregivers.

Survivors include twin daughters, Kim (Will Grittinger) Rankin of Madison, and Kay (Jason) Early of Oconomowoc. Grandsons Nate (Emi) Early of Litchfield, New Hampshire, Nigel Early of Milwaukee, Grey Rankin of Madison and granddaughter Savannah Rankin of Milwaukee.  Additionally, she is survived by 2 siblings Janice (Jerry) Snider and Bernard (Linda) LaPean, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Jean was proceeded in death by her husband Bill, and son Joe, her parents, her older sister Violet, and younger brothers Larry and Robert.

The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers (Go Team Mels) at Wilkinson Woods and Legacy Hospice. 

Visitation will be held at Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm noon on Monday, March 24, 2025. Graveside service will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Durand.  A Celebration of Life will be held at the Orton Room inside the Corral/Riverside Grill immediately after the graveside service.
