Helen M Bauer

Helen M. Bauer, age 85 of Eau Claire passed away June 17, 2009 at the Clairemont Health Care Center in Eau Claire.

Helen was born in Rock Falls on May 29, 1924 at home in Rock Falls. She was the daughter William and Edith (Schuh) Radle. She went to the Cranberry Creek School. Helen married Joseph R. Bauer on May 18, 1943. After marriage they farmed by Rock Falls and Helen worked hard farming and raising her children at home after Joe’s death. She had a large garden to support her family.

Helen enjoyed playing guitar, accordion and harmonica until she couldn’t. She also embroidered in her spare time. Helen worked at Sacred Heart Hospital for 26 years after moving to Eau Claire. Her husband Joe died April 15, 1964.

Helen is survived by four daughters, Dorothy Thompson and Marilyn (Francis) Koller, both of Eau Claire, Carol (Larry) Prissel of Durand and Jean (Jim) Lecheler of Grange Hall, four sons, Jerome (Kay) Bauer and Ronald (Bev) Bauer of Rock Falls, Dennis (Sandy) Bauer of Eau Claire and James (Jean) Bauer of Mondovi, 22 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, one sister, Lucian Bauer of Durand, Sisters-in-law, Phyllis Radle of Eau Claire, Karen Radle of Rock Falls, Sr. Rosalia Bauer of Beloit, Brothers-in-law, Patrick (Patty) Bauer, Leonard ”Lud” (Lois) Bauer, Arnold (Darlene) Bauer, all of Durand and Wilfred Bauer of Eau Galle, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe, son-in-law, Ross Thompson, five grandsons, a sister Clarice Bauer, two brothers, Herman Radle and Kenneth Radle, her in-laws, Joseph A. (Rose) Bauer, Catherine (Everett) Bilderback, Florence (Louis) Hayden, Lawrence (Lucille) Bauer, Edward Bauer and Margaret Bauer.

Helen’s family would like to thank the Clairemont Health Care Center and the care they provided Helen over the 3 and half years she was there. They were so caring and understanding. We would also like to extend a thank you to Dr. Durkee for his care.
