Larry W Lawless

Larry W. Lawless, age 82 of Durand, died Thursday, January 16, 2025 at United Hospital in St. Paul, MN.

Larry was born on July 27, 1942 in St. Louis, MO. He was the son of James and Angie (Dunlap) Lawless. Larry grew up in the Benton, MO area. After school, Larry moved to Michigan where he began his 38 year career with General Motors. Larry married Bette June “Miss Kit” Wright on December 24, 1962 in Benton, MO. After marriage, Larry and Miss Kit lived in Michigan and raised their sons, Brian Keith and Alan Wayne. Larry worked his way up the ladder at GM, starting on the production line and retiring as the building superintendent at the Tech Center in Warren MI, in charge of experimental engine design and build. In retirement, Larry moved to Durand to be closer to family, where he lived for the last 20 years. Due to his health, he then moved to Woodville to live with his family.

Larry enjoyed spending time outdoors golfing, hunting, boating and going for motorcycle rides. Most of all Larry loved spending time with his family and friends.

Larry is survived by his son, Alan (Tambri) of Woodville; granddaughter, Brittney (Dominick) Brittain of Durand; great granddaughter, Riley Lawless-Brittain of Durand; brother, Marvin (Karen) Lawless of Cape Girardeau, MO; sister, Elaine (Sandy) Lawless; special friends, Gladys Klopp and Linda and Rex Hoover, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Miss Kit; and one son, Brian.

Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00PM-7:00PM Friday, January 24, 2025 at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand.
