Joseph R. Baier Sr.

Joseph Roger Baier Sr., age 52 of Eau Galle, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at his home in Eau Galle.

Joe was born on October 25, 1972 in Durand. He was the son of Roger and Orpha (Easterson) Baier. He grew up in Eau Galle and attended St. Mary’s School and graduated from Durand High School in 1992. After school, Joe spent most of his life on the farm, farming and being an A.I. Technician.  It was at a young age in 4-H where Joe met Becky Weber and their love grew as they dated. Joe married Becky on January 3, 1998, at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Eau Galle.  After marriage Joe and Becky lived in Eau Galle where they raised their family. For the last two years, Joe worked for Pember Companies in Menomonie.

Joe enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting bear. His passion was to work with his dogs and train them for hunting. Joe also enjoyed horse riding, hog and coyote hunting, fishing, golfing, bowling, grilling chicken and playing cards. Joe loved spending time with his family and friends, especially babysitting his grandson, Tate.

Joe is survived by his wife of 27 years, Becky; children, Joe Jr. (Haley); Luke (Haley) and Hannah (special friend Tyler) Baier, all of Eau Galle; grandson, Tate; father, Roger (Judy Hutter) Baier of Durand; siblings, Wendy (Charlie) Gruber and Cindy (Rob) Prissel, all of Eau Galle; father and mother-in-law, Jim and Donna Weber of Eau Claire; sisters-in-law, Cathy (Matt) Erickson of Prairie Farm and Janell (Brian Herman) Weber of Roseville, MN; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Orpha Baier.

Memorial Mass will be 11:30AM Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Durand with Rev. John Zweber officiating. Burial will be in the St. Henry Catholic Cemetery in Eau Galle.

Visitation will be from 4:00PM-7:00PM Tuesday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
