Susan Marie “Sue” Bauer, age 76, of River Falls, passed away at home on December 27, 2024.

Susan was born on August 1, 1948, in Maiden Rock.  She was the daughter of Walter and Marie (Wittig) Hayden and grew up on the home farm in the Town of Albany. Sue graduated from Sacred Heart, Lima and after high school earned an associate degree in Accounting at CVTC.

Susan married William John Bauer on May 6, 1972, at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Church in Fountain City.  After marriage they moved to River Falls to start their life together.  Sue worked at 3M in St. Paul followed by W.J Bauman Assoc. LTD until they started their family. 

Sue enjoyed spending time at the lake, fishing, watching ball games, sewing, baking and spending time with family and friends.

Susan is survived by 2 sons, John Bauer and Bobby Bauer (Dahlya); 8 grandchildren, Alexia, Brooklynn, Zoey, Ryker, Jack, Will, James and Abigail; 6 brothers: Harry (Betty), John (Barb), George (Sally), Dan (Diane), Tom (Joni), Rick (Patti), sister-in-law Dondi Hayden, 3 sisters; Carol (Bob) Cornish, Barb (Bill) Zabel, Connie (Marty) Pittman; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband Bill, her son Micah, her parents and her brother Gene.

Celebration of life will be held on January 19,, 2024, from 1:00PM to 3:00 PM in The Orton Room, at the Corrall Bar & Riverside Grill, Durand, WI. Burial will be at a later date at the St Mary’s Cemetery in Durand, WI.

Rhiel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Durand, is serving the family.

    She was a little older than me.. but was such a nice person to everyone. I would just remember how sweet she was… sending hugs and prayers to the family????????????

    So sorry to hear of Susie's death. We were classmates plus neighbors. One fun memory is climbing the huge hill behind her house and Sue telling me to be careful so I wouldn't step in (cow pats.) Enjoyed her visit high school when she and her mom stopped to visit us. Rest in Peace, Sue
