Joyce Marie Reuter, 95, of Eau Galle, WI passsed away peacefully December 7, 2024.  She is formerly from the Arcadia, Waumandee area. 

She was born on February 13, 1929 on Ash Wednesday in Arcadia to parents, Orvin and Imelda (Schaefer) Angst. She graduated from Arcadia High School in 1947 and pursued her education at Mount Mary College in Milwaukee, WI.  She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public School Music Education with a major in piano performance and minors in English and History.  She was chosen in her junior year to receive the all-around college award for scholastics, extracurricular activities, and sports receiving a trophy.  After graduating from Mount Mary College in 1951, she taught private piano lessons in the Arcadia, Waumandee and Eau Galle areas for over 40 years.  Her students participated in local high school and Wisconsin Music Teacher Associations (WMTA) yearly and Joyce received an award for excellence from WMTA. She furthered her piano education by taking piano lessons and courses at St. Mary’s University and Winona State University, Winona, MN.  She instilled in her six children the love of music and taught them piano.  Fitting as she passed away on the Memorial Day of St. Ambrose who was a famed composer of lyrics and melody's.

She was an avid flower and vegetable gardener, and enjoyed canning. She also had a passion for homemade cooking and baking.  She took painting classes and enjoyed oil painting.  She was skilled in crocheting, which included homemade gifts throughout the year to family and friends.  She always expressed her caring, thoughtfulness, concerns and her love to one another by writing and sending notes and cards and emails to everyone in her life.  Holidays were always special occasions spent with her family. In her spare time, she loved to shop and go on mini trips. Her life’s axiom saying was: “Never let it be said that I didn’t try.”

In 1952, she married Francis Reuter, Waumandee, WI where they lived and raised their children on the family farm.  She was actively involved in the St. Boniface Altar Society, having held office, until she moved to Eau Galle, WI in 1991.

She is survived by her children, Francis , Brenda, Brad (Carrie), Marilyn (John) Solmarin, Beverly (Jeff) Schalo, Erik (Rebecca) and grandchildren  Philip (Anne), Melody (Mark) McKee, Paul (Brianna) and great-grandchildren Harper, Holden, Hadley and Kinsley, and nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband Francis, parents Orvin and Imelda Angst, brother Mike Angst, sister-in-law Mary, and nephews Matthew and James Angst.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to American Lutheran Home, Mondovi, WI and AdventHealth, Durand, WI for their outstanding care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests Masses for Joyce and/or Memorials may be made in Joyce's name for music needs of St. Boniface church and school.   Donations can also be made to St. Mary’s Assumption Parish, Durand, WI

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial, will be held on Friday, December 13th, 2024 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waumandee WI at 11:30 a.m. with Father Emmanuel Asamoah-Bekoe of the Tri Parishes of Durand, WI officiating.   Visitation will be held in the church from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. Burial after Mass in parish cemetery with dinner to follow at the Ripley Social Hall.
