Kenneth L. Sol
Kenneth L Sol, age 88 of Menomonie, died Friday November 1, 2024, at The Neighbors of Dunn County in Menomonie. He was born July 7, 1936, in the Town of Dunn near Dunnville WI on the home farm to Albert and Angeline (Kadinger) Sol. Ken attended St. Henry's Catholic School in Eau Galle and Durand High School.
He met and married Gloria R. Pickerign April 17th, 1956, at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Eau Galle.
After marriage, he worked in California with the Forest Service. He was also a member of the National Guard in Menomonie and Oregon. Upon return to Wisconsin, they farmed with his parents until 1960 when Ken and Gloria purchased their farm in the Town of Menomonie where they raised 5 children.
Ken enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, antique cars and snowmobiling, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends where his sense of humor will always be remembers.
He was a member of Irvington-Weston Snowmobile Club, Red Cedar Antique Car Club. He also enjoyed teaching woodworking and being a softball coach to many kids in Willing Workers 4-H club.
He will be remembered for his love of family, his contagious laugh, farming and his love of nature.
He is survived by his loving wife Gloria, a son Jeff (Diane) Sol of Menomonie, three daughters, Cindy (Neil) Hansen of Menomonie, Shari (Eugene) Jakes of Ellsworth, Debbie (Todd) Hintzman of Menomonie and Daughter-in-law Patty Sol of Elk Mound. 13 Grandchildren, 22 Great Grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded by his son David K Sol, his parents, a brother Robert Sol, a sister Mary Ida Riley and two nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at The Neighbors of Dunn Co and St Croix Hospice for the tender care they provided.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, November 6, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Menomonie. Burial will take place in the Lower Weston Cemetery -Township of Weston, rural Menomonie.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Tuesday, at Rhiel Funeral Home in Menomonie and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
