Joan B (Stuart) McMahon Pooler

Joan B. (Stuart) McMahon Pooler, age 87 of Durand, died Sunday, October 6, 2024 at Dove Healthcare in Bloomer.

Joan was born January 12, 1937, in Durand. She was the daughter of Edward and Edna (Kern) Stuart. Joan grew up in Durand and graduated from Durand High School. After high school, Joan married Darrell McMahon on September 1, 1954, in Durand. Together they had four children, Vicki, Kathy, Cheryl and William and later divorced. Joan later married Don Pooler on August 30, 1980, and they lived happily together until his passing in 1996. During her working career, Joan worked at Kezar Café and Village Inn Café as a waitress, later and Northern Manufacturing in Pepin for several years before making a career at Riviera Cabinets in Red Wing, MN for 20 years until her retirement.

Joan had a passion for animals, especially horses and the love of outdoors. She enjoyed her trips to the casino and creating drama with family and friends.

Joan is survived by her children, Vicki Weiss of Baldwin; Kathy Strauss of River Falls; Cheryl Biesterveld of Durand and Bill (Jessica) McMahon of Arkansaw; grandchildren, Casey (Eric); Tony (Jennifer); Eric (Nicole); Alaina (Tim); Bryan (Stephanie); Rene (Cliff); Tim (Kelly); Kyle (Amy); Cody (Lauren); Kristina (Matt); Chellsey; Ella and Leo; great grandchildren, Evan; Kennedy; Jayden; Daxton; Dreyson; Dylan; Maleri; Hani; Tate; Evie; Andrew; Allison; Abigale; Finnley; Landon; Carter; Alexia; Harlow; Skyler; Sybella; siblings, Joyce (John) Kramer; Virginia (Dale) Dessert and Perry (Lori) Stuart, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Don Pooler; son-in-law, Mike Weiss; siblings, Edward “Junior” Stuart and Jean Thibado.

Graveside Services will be held 10:00AM Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Waubeek Cemetery, rural Durand. A Celebration of Life will be held following the graveside service from 11:00AM-2:00PM at Buzz’s Bar and Grill in Mondovi.

    Toughest gal I'll ever know... so happy she was such a huge part of our lives.spoo much knowledge to learn from her. ... we had some great trips to the casino, and hit a few movies together downtown after my kids were off on their own....heaven has gained a one of a kind.
