Jerome "JR" "Jerry" M. Richartz

Jerome “JR” “Jerry” M. Richartz of Menomonie, died Monday August 26, 2024 at the age of 73.

JR was born January 13, 1951, in Menomonie.  He was the son of Ted and Nira (Block) Richartz.  He grew up in Menomonie and graduated from Menomonie High School in 1969.  JR was proud of his athletic accomplishments in basketball, golf, baseball and ping-pong. After high school JR worked in the family businesses (Richartz Implement, Champion Auto, Richartz Auto Sales)

JR had many interests including golf, bowling, softball and playing cards.  Other favorite activities were traveling, casino runs and attending sporting events of all kinds, especially when his family members were playing.  He also loved auto racing.

JR is survived by his siblings, Bill (Jackie Gerth) of Menomonie, Roxanne (T.O.) Malum of Osakis, MN, Jim (Cathy) of Menomonie, Peggy (Al Grabowski) Richartz of Menomonie, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and too many friends to mention.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and a niece, Brooke Richartz.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday September 4, 2024, at Rhiel Funeral Home in Menomonie, followed by a reception at Dean & Sue’s at 7:30 PM Wednesday.

In order to carry on JR’s passion for taking care of others, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in JR’s memory to a charity of your choice.

    JR will be missed. He had such a great sense of humor. I enjoyed playing cards with him and hearing his stories. He was a very caring person, always checking on his friends and helping whenever he could. Heaven must have needed another angel.
