Arnold F. Bauer, Jr.
Arnold “Arnie” Bauer Jr., age 68 of Colfax, passed away Saturday August 10, 2024, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN with his wife Christine by his side.
Arnie was born in Durand, WI on May 27, 1956. He was the son of Arnold & Marian (Lecheler) Bauer. Arnie grew up & graduated from Elmwood, WI. After graduation, he began working in the shipyards up in Algoma, WI. Fate would then lead him back to Elmwood where he met and married Christine Nellessen on November 4, 1978, in Spring Valley, WI. They resided in Elmwood, WI where together they raised 8 children. He worked for Hinz Construction, before taking over the family farm in 1994. In 2006, they sold the cows and Arnie started working at what is now Anderson Windows Consolidation Center in Menomonie. In 2018, they sold the farm and moved to Colfax, WI and he retired in 2021.
Arnie enjoyed fishing, camping, bonfires, watching his favorite sports teams and spending time with family & his grandchildren. He was very involved in the Knights of Columbus in Elmwood, for 20+ years.
Arnie is survived by his wife of 45 years, Christine; children, Adam (Cathy) Bauer of Wheeler, WI; Joseph (Krista) Bauer of Baldwin, WI; William Bauer of USAF in Germany; Jeffrey Bauer of Elmwood, WI; Rebecca (Joshua) Burton of Eau Claire, WI; Jonathan (Virginia) Bauer of Wheeler, WI; Mary (Michael) Schoenhard of Eau Claire, WI; James Bauer of Menomonie, WI; 12 grandchildren; brother, Allen (Jodi) Bauer of Hammond, WI; sisters, Nona Buchholz of Eau Claire; Judy (Jerry) Hartung of Arkansaw, WI; Karen (Charles) Goettl of Chippewa Falls, WI; Jean (Matthew) Dilts of Menomonie; Paula Bauer of Eau Claire; sister-in-law, Brenda Bauer of Durand, WI, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents; parents, Arnold & Marian Bauer; brother, Kenneth Bauer; brother-in-law, Dale Buchholz.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday August 20, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Menomonie with Rev. John Mano officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of the services at the church on Tuesday.
Luncheon will be held in the Parish Fellowship Hall following the burial for those who wish to come together and remember and share memories of Arnie.
