Virginia "Ginny" Schober
Virginia Caroline (Baier) Schober, 99, of Menomonie, WI, died peacefully August 8, 2024, at Comforts of Home in Menomonie. She was born at home on June 5, 1925, in Eau Galle, WI. Her parents were Henry and Ida (Bauer) Baier and stepfather Albert Fedie. Virginia graduated from Durand High School in 1942. On May 11, 1948 she married Kenneth Schober at St Henry's Catholic Church, Eau Galle, WI. Virginia worked at the Pepin County Register of Deeds Office, National Pressure Cooker Co. in Eau Claire, the Eau Galle Cheese Factory, and retired from UW-Stout, Menomonie. She was a member of St Joseph's Catholic Church, Menomonie, and volunteered at the Mabel Tainter Theater, the Mayo Clinic Health System-Menomonie, and St Joseph's Church. Virginia greatly enjoyed reading and walking. She will be missed by her loving family and many friends at The Village at White Pine and Comforts of Home, both in Menomonie.
Virginia is survived by daughters, Dianne Feldt of Rockford, IL, Donna Schober of Tempe, AZ, Carolyn (Robert) Lichty of Menomonie, and a son, Steven (Christina) Schober of St. Anthony, MN. She is also survived by half-sister JoAnn (John) Fagerland of River Falls; sister-in-law Carol Baier of Elmwood and six grandchildren, Jessica (Rob) Cabeen, Joshua Lichty, Ashley (Matt) Boedecker, Erin Feldt, Daniel (Emily) Schober, and Caitlin Schober. Also surviving are great-grandchildren Kenneth Cabeen, Isaiah Cabeen, Zoey Lichty, Quinn Schober and Jack Steven Schober along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband Kenneth, parents, stepfather, brother Jerry Baier, half-brother Charles Fedie, brothers-in-law Bernard, James, and Adrian Schober and Frank Crownhart, sisters-in-law, Adeline Crownhart, Veronica Schober and Ingrid Schober, and sons-in-law, Dr. Michael Feldt and Marvin Sondag.
The family would like to thank the caring staff of Comforts of Home and St. Croix Hospice. Memorials in memory of Virginia may be sent to St Joseph's Catholic Church, Menomonie or a charity of your choice.
Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday August 15, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Menomonie with Rev. John Mano officiating. Burial be in St. Henry’s Cemetery in Eau Galle.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
