Theodore J Horn

Theodore J Horn

It is with heavy hearts we notify family and friends of the passing of our brother, Theodore J. Horn (Ted), age 76 of Bloomer, Wis.

Ted died peacefully at the Marshfield Medical Center on July 23, 2024.  He was born January 28, 1948, in Plum City, Wisconsin, to LeRoy and Leona (Lecheler) Horn and graduated from Plum City High School Class of 1966. Ted was a prolific artist who set brush to canvas to create pastels and oil paintings of those simple yet beautiful objects that surround us.  Particularly, his favorites ran the gamut from wildlife (think wolves and birds), to landscapes and flowers. Ted was recognized for his art with many awards for his work. He also served on the Arts Board of Ellsworth High School, encouraging youth to express their creativity through the arts.  Ted also liked to fish along the Rush River and in Northern Wisconsin and enjoyed paying attention and talking to his beloved roses.  He spent many of his early years working as a restaurant and bar manager, and later he drove school bus for the Ellsworth District. Ted was a longtime resident of Ellsworth prior to moving to Bloomer.

He will be ever remembered by siblings:  Thomas (Terry), Pepin, Wis.; Diane Daleiden (Norbert), Stillwater, Minn.; Mary Olson, Nekoosa, Wis.; Colleen Horn Harris (Gregory) Prescott, Wis.; and Kathleen Zupan, Fitchburg, Wis., 11 dear nieces and nephews and many relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law Jack Olson and Marty Zupan.

A private family graveside service honoring Ted will take place at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Plum City. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Ted at Molly’s on Main, 515 Main Street, in Plum City August 10 from noon to 4 p.m.

Rhiel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Durand, is serving the family.
