Hubert "Hub" L. Weiss

Hubert "Hub" L. Weiss

Hubert “Hub” L. Weiss age 90, of Durand, was called home on Friday July 12, 2024, after a brief illness, at the American Lutheran Home in Mondovi.

Hub was born September 5, 1933, on the home farm in the Township of Lima, rural Durand.  He was the son of John Sr. and Anna (Hayden) Weiss.  Hub attended Lima High School and farmed together with his brother, John, and then with his sons, until his retirement.  Hubert was united in marriage to Marjorie Weber on May 12, 1954, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima.

Hub enjoyed driving, cars, motorcycles tractors, (anything on wheels), with family and friends.  He knew every back road for miles around.  Traveling was another passion he enjoyed. Starting on his 25th wedding anniversary, they drove to Arizona to visit his sister for many years, and then going overseas with family.  Hub had an innate ability to talk with anyone and made many acquaintances through the years, far and wide.

Hubert is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marjorie; six children, Gary of Durand, Cathy (Doug) Bauer of Arkansaw, Lisa (John) Fisher of Holmen, Vicki (Duane) Teigen of Mondovi, Brian (Jennifer) of Durand, Scott (Wendy) of Enumclaw, WA; 12 grandchildren, Sean Weiss, Quentin Bauer, Erica Gingras, Aaron Bauer, Jessica Wang, Corey & Eric Norby, Jack, Samuel, Adam, Bradley & Sydney Weiss; 18 grandchildren and one great-great grandson; “in-laws” Goldene Weiss, Susan Weber, Carol Weber, Diane (Dan) Bauer, LeRoy (Suzanne) Weber, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, twins, Joseph and Mary; brothers, Edmund & John Jr., sisters, Blanche Prissel, Marion Weissinger, and Marcella Weber; brothers-in-law, William and Ronald Weber.

The family would like to thank Mayo Health System, American Lutheran Home of Mondovi and Mayo Hospice for their compassionate care.

Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday July 17, 2024, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima, rural Durand, with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday at Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
