William A Seipel

William A Seipel

William “Bill” Andrew Seipel age 94 of Plum City, former resident of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully Sunday May 26, 2024 at the Plum City Care Center in Plum City.

Bill was born June 16, 1929, the son of Andrew and Anna (Reitz) Seipel. Bill married Vernetta Geissler on Sept. 2, 1950, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Cooks Valley. Bill and Vernetta lived 59 joy-filled years together, prior to her passing in 2009.

Bill served honorably for the U.S. Army in Korea and after return from military service he attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Bill then worked for many years for Bell Telephone at various locations throughout Wisconsin.

Bill had an active faith life and enjoyed helping others through his work with the Knights of Columbus and the Telephone Pioneers. Following his retirement, he continued to serve his community by completing training to support his volunteer work as an EMT and Firefighter for the Chippewa Fire District, Town of Howard.

Bill especially enjoyed time spent with family, particularly at large family gatherings. He also treasured many life-long friendships, and enjoyed sharing his goodwill with neighbors. Bill always loved telling stories of his many life experiences and travel adventures, and those of us who loved him, even those he had just met, really loved listening to his tales. He always seemed to have a story for every occasion or situation.  Some of Bill’s favored activities included travel (to all 50 states), gardening, card playing, fishing and hunting. Most of all, Bill found real enjoyment in making sure that others around him were enjoying themselves.

Bill is survived by five children, Yvonne (Steve) Weinzirl of Eau Galle, David (Sue) of Ogema, Thomas (Cindy) of Chippewa Falls, Cindy (Paul) Abraham of Vonore, TN, Robert (Annie) of Ellsworth, 23 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, sister Esther Schrader, and brother Donald.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Vernetta, a daughter Diana, a son Duane, brothers John and Norbert, sister Norita (Ron) Gifford, and two great grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be 11:00AM Friday, June 7, 2024 at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls with Father Jesse Burrish officiating. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Cooks Valley at a later date. Visitation will be from 4:00PM-7:00PM Thursday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Rhiel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Durand, is serving the family.

I apoligize this is a month late. My parents lived next to Bill in Eau Claire. So sorry to hear of his passing! He was a good hearted man & always made a point to talk to me if he was getting the mail or sitting on his back porch. He died exactly one year after my mom Charlotte Prince did. Didn't realize he had passed until I drove by & saw the house up for sale. He was a wonderful neighbor to my parents & I will keep him in my prayers!
