Doris A Myers

Doris A Myers

Doris Ann Myers, age 90, originally from Eau Galle died Friday, March 22, 2024 at Heritage Court Memory Care, Eau Claire with her family by her side.

Doris was born July 24, 1933 to James and Bertha (Laughlin) Morgan in Menomonie, Wisconsin. Doris grew up in Downsville and Menomonie and graduated from Menomonie High School in 1952.  After high school she did work as a CNA and legal secretary.

On May 6, 1953 Doris married the love of her life, Joseph Myers from Eau Galle.  They celebrated their 70th wedding Anniversary on May 6, 2023.  After marriage they settled on the original Myers farmstead in the town of Eau Galle and farmed until they sold the farm in the late 90s.  After they sold the farm and retired from farming, they spent their time playing cards at the Eau Galle Senior Center and enjoying making memories with their children and grandchildren.  Doris and Joe moved to The Homeplace of Durand in the fall of 2019 and Doris later moved to Heritage Court Memory Care of Eau Claire in the fall of 2022.

Doris spent her time doing ceramics, and having pizza parties with her friends when Joe went to Dartball on Wednesday nights.  She was also active as a 4-H Leader for the Hay Creek Busy Bees until the club dissolved and encouraged her children and grandchildren to participate in 4-H.  Doris was also known for her baking skills and loved sharing recipes with her family.  Nothing made her happier than when one of the grandchildren would call and ask for a recipe or how to make something.

Doris is survived by her husband, Joe Myers of Durand; children Albert (Rose) Myers, Woodville, Linda (Steve) Talford, Durand, Bob Myers (Paula Molitor), Merrill and Sue (Derek) Weidner, Stanley; grandchildren Eric (Brenda) McRoberts, Becky (J J) Northrop, Troy Talford and Marissa Myers (Daniel Schruck); Step-Grandchildren Jeremy (Kristen) Schlosser and Corey Schlosser; Great-Grandchildren Briella, Zander, Grayson, Riley, Addyson and step-great grandchildren Jeffrey, Mariah, Abigail, Madison, Peyton, Kipton and Lilly.

Doris is also survived by her brother, Harold Morgan, sisters-in-law Zeona Bechel and Sondra Morgan and many nieces, nephews and special friends.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents, siblings Iola (Joe), Raymond, Bill and Catherine, her in-laws, Albert and Lida Myers, Merlin and Alberta Peterson, Ed Bechel, Ralph and Loma Hetrick, daughter-in-law Susanne Myers, special cousins Leatus Thibado and Lowell Lauglin and many other family members and friends.

Doris was born and grew up at 2014 third street Menomonie Wi in a house still standing. We walked to St Joseph school. I proudly remember tending bar at Doris and Joe’s wedding reception at the Durand. Rod and Gun Club. In later years Joe and I would go fishing in the Eau Galle and bring our fish home for Doris to fry for supper. So many fond memories . My condolences to Joe and children.
