James William Brantner age 85 of Durand,
Born: March 16, 1924
Died: May 26, 2009 at the Chippewa Valley Hospital in Durand.
Jim was the son of John and Mary (Fedie) Brantner. He grew up in the Lima area and graduated from the Sacred Heart School in Lima. After high school, Jim married Loretta J. Brenner on November 16, 1942 at St. Mary’s in Durand. They farmed for a short period of time and later, he worked for Durand Hardware before moving to Evansville, WI and becoming a district manager for Varco Pruden Metal Buildings. In 1972 he started a company with George Minz called Minz Building Systems in West Bend, WI where he worked until he retired in 1989 and moved back to Durand.
Jim enjoyed woodworking in his retirement, fishing, playing cards, RVing and traveling, especially spending the winters in Florida. Most of all, he loved to spend time with family and friends.
Jim is survived by his wife Loretta, his children, John “Butch” (Mary Jane) of Durand, Mary Jane (Wayne) Diller of Mondovi, Doug (Nancy) of Durand and Marsha (Ed) Brannen of Mondovi, 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter Calico Ann Diller, four brothers, Leo, Herman, Raymond and Clarence Brantner and one sister, Ann Brunner.
