Josephine E. Keenlyne, age 92 of Elmwood, Wisconsin, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Our House Senior Living in Menomonie Wisconsin.
Josephine was born to Alex and Bessie (Hite) Kadinger on September 29, 1931 in Dunn County, WI.
She was raised on family farm in Dunnville Wi. She attended St Henry’s School in Eau Galle, WI. She graduated High School from Durand WI. After high school, Josephine worked at the Variety Store in downtown Durand.
Josephine married the love of her life, Charles LeRoy Keenlyne on October 27th, 1952, at St. Henry’s Catholic Church, Eau Galle WI. They had 64 years of marriage before LeRoy passed. They farmed on the Maxville prairie until April 1962, before moving to Elmwood area and continued to farm. They built a new home on one of the farms near Elmwood where they retired.
Josephine worked at Elmwood Nursing Home where she also attained her CNA Certificate. And after the family was raised, Josephine worked at Sears in Eau Claire, WI. Loved to travel with family and friends. Family reunions were always a priority. Enjoying Card Clubs with neighbors and friends. Dancing from square dancing to ball room. Josephine loved going to Birthday Parties, Anniversaries, Weddings, School, and Church events. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Church of Elmwood. Where she was very active in the Altar Rosary Society and served as president, Weber Valley Home Makers, and serving communion to those who were shut in or unable to attend. As well as sending cards to all. Her faith stayed strong to her end. Josephine comfort food she would make and share with anyone in need was her famous Chili. She took photography class and loved to practice on family at gatherings. She always had large gardens of both vegetables and berries with flowers inside and out. Josephine’s favorite professional team was the Green Bay Packers.
After the passing of her husband, Josephine moved to Welcome Home Assisted Living in Elmwood, WI. Where she had an apartment, she brought her favorite belongings including Prize Deer Mounts from her hunting days. She was known from that point on to most as Josie. From there she moved to Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home in Elmwood, WI, due to closing of nursing home she moved to Our House Senior Living in Menomonie, WI. On July 31st 2023 till her passing on November 25th, 2023.
Josephine is survived by sons, Charles Jr. “Chuck” Pepin, WI; Kirk (Joyce) Glenwood City, WI; Bruce (Theresa) and Rodney (Charlet) both of Elmwood, WI. Daughters Karen (Dwight) Johnson, Spring Valley WI.; Sharon (Tom) Micek and Marilyn (Tim) Bowell both of Menomonie, WI. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Betty Sabelko of Mondovi, WI, and Dianna (Tony) Gullickson of Fresno, CA. She is further survived by brothers-in-law Kent (Lamoyn) Keenlyne Mobile, AL and James Mork, Shakopee, MN, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Alex and Bessie Kadinger, one grandson Adrian Johnson, 2 brothers Alex Kadinger Jr. and Paul Kadinger, 3 sisters and 3 brothers-in-law Romona (Wayne) Messex-Borre, Gloria (Frank) Hince, Rose (Newell) Herum and Harold Sabelko.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00AM Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Sacred Hearth Catholic Church in Elmwood with Rev. Anbu Shanmugam officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00PM-7:00PM Friday, December 15, 2023 at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
