Joan F Sweeney
Joan F. Sweeney, age 84 of Eau Claire, formerly of Durand, died Sunday, October 1, 2023 at Orchard Hills in Eau Claire with her family by her side.
Joan was born on February 17, 1939 in Durand. She was the daughter of Albert and Mary (Bauer) Bauer. Joan grew up in Durand and graduated from Sacred Heart School in Lima. Joan married Edwin R. Sweeney on February 10, 1962 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lima. After marriage, Joan and Edwin moved to Richfield, MN where they raised their family. In retirement, Joan and Edwin moved back to Durand. In 2021, Joan moved to Eau Claire where she remained the rest of her life.
Joan enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. She liked spending time with friends especially taking trips to Birchpoint Resort in Birchwood. Most of all Joan loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Joan is survived by her daughter Sara (Eric) Luther of Rochester, MN, two grandchildren Isabelle and Noah, two sisters Karen Rubesch and Veronica Caturia, both of Eau Claire, brother-in-law Harvey Radle of Eau Claire, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Edwin, daughter, Rebecca Sweeney and son Gregory Sweeney.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Orchard Hills and Mayo Clinic Health Systems Hospice for all the loving care and support they gave to Mom.
Memorial Mass will be 10:30AM Thursday, October 5, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Arkansaw with Rev. Jojo V. Villapaz officiating. Rosary Services will be at 10:00AM at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation and lunch will be held after services at the church on Thursday.
