Gary E. Bailey age 88, of Menomonie, died Thursday, August 17, 2023, at The Neighbors of Dunn County in Menomonie.

Gary was born January 14, 1935, in Menomonie.  He was the son of Mack and Lois (Clark) Bailey.  He grew up in Menomonie and graduated from Dunn County Aggie High School in Menomonie. 

Gary worked for several years for the Burlington Railroad in Chicago.  He returned to Menomonie and farmed with his father until his father’s death.  Gary worked for several years for his neighbors with farming.  In 1970, Gary began working for Lee Villeneuve Surveying and worked there until 2005, when he retired.

Gary is survived by several relatives, Michael Doyle, an aunt by marriage, Lois Clark, Judson (Pam) Hilton, Judy Hilton, Elizabeth Hilton Traci Doyle and other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday August 23, 2023, at Forest Hill Cemetery in the Township of Stanton, Knapp, WI.

   I didn’t realize Gary had passed away until now. He was one of the sweetest people I had ever met. I helped take care of Gary in the nursing home as a student CNA. Rest In Peace Gary.❤️

   Gary was a beloved pen pal of mine for many years. He was a profoundly kind-hearted man with a magnificent imagination. He was kind not only to me, but also to my mother and grandmother, who also corresponded with him. The world was much blessed by his quiet and peaceful life.
