Rosetta A. "Sadie" Sinz
Rosetta A. “Sadie” Sinz, age 89 of Durand, died Sunday, January 8, 2023 at Welcome Home Senior Living in Elmwood with her family by her side.
Rosetta was born on March 19, 1933 to Walter and Marian (Forster) Weissinger in the Lima Township where she was raised. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School graduating in 1951. After graduation, Rosetta worked at the Variety Store in Durand until she married Delano Sinz at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima on February 4, 1953. Together they farmed and raised their seven sons in the Township of Durand. In 1988 they moved to the city of Durand and the farm was sold in 1991. In 2018 Rosetta moved to Welcome Home in Elmwood where she remained the rest of her life. Rosetta also worked in the cafeteria in the Durand High School, doing food demos at Erickson’s Grocery Store in Durand and was a driver for the Office of Aging in Pepin County.
In Rosetta’s spare time, she enjoyed embroidering, coloring, crossword puzzles and playing cards (Except when she lost!). Most of all, Rosetta loved spending her time with her seven sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rosetta was an active member of Holy Rosary Parish serving as vice president and secretary of the PCCW, a Eucharistic Minister, leading the Rosary before Mass and singing in the Lima Polka Choir.
Rosetta is survived by her sons, Dean, Don (Tootie), Doug (Mary), Dan (Diane), David (Angie), Duane (Tammy) and Dale (Tammy), all of Durand, 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, one sister, Judy Norrish, two sisters-in-law, Vicki Weissinger and Darlene Manock, good friend at Welcome Home, Judy Harmon (who was the daughter she never had), nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Marian, husband, Delano in 2014 three brothers, Ronald, Wayne and Gale Weissinger and one grandson, Justin.
Funeral Mass will be 11:30AM Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima in Durand with Rev. Timothy Reither officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00PM-7:00PM Monday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
Memorials may be made in Rosetta’s name to the Welcome Home in Elmwood for their awesome and loving care given to her over the last five years.
