Arlen J Doughty
Arlen J. Doughty, age 73 of Elmwood, died Thursday, April 9, 2009 at the Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN.
Arlen was born on April 5, 1936 in Plum City. He was the son of Jay and Ruby (Fredrickson) Doughty. Arlen grew up in the Plum City but mostly the Elmwood area. Arlen worked at the Elmwood Creamery and De-Laval in River Falls. Arlen married Ellen Lauderdale in 1955. After marriage they lived in the township of Rock Elm where he farmed. He also worked for Weiser Concrete and later years he drove for Ambu-Van. His wife Ellen died in 1993 and he then married Judy Thomley in 1994 and they continued to live in the Township of Rock Elm.
Arlen enjoyed hunting, farming, long drives on back roads, telling jokes, playing cards and most of all, spending time with his family.
Arlen is survived by his wife Judy, two sons, Douglas (Janice) of River Falls, Darryl (Julie) of Menomonie, three daughters, Debra (Greg Kalember) Doughty of Red Wing, MN, Wanda (Howard) Dieringer of Elmwood and Dawn Bechel of Arkansaw, 10 grandchildren, one great grandson, four stepdaughters, Debra (Rob) Rose of Red Wing, MN, Sherry (John) Cole of Menomonie, Linda Harelson of Marshfield and Melissa (Tim) Mathiesen of Spring Valley, one stepson, John (Barbara) Thomley of Fort Sill, OK, 21 step grandchildren, ten step great grandchildren, one sister Janet (John) Williamson of Elmwood, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Ellen, two daughters Donna and Joan, one grandson Jordan Holt and one brother Arden Doughty.
