William "Ted" Richartz

William Theodore “Ted” Richartz age 82, of Menomonie,

Died: Saturday December 8, 2007 at his home

Ted was born December 24, 1924 in Rock Falls. He was the son of Theodore C. and Violet (Norrish) Richartz. Ted moved with his family at the age of six to Menomonie. He graduated from Menomonie High School in 1943. Ted entered the U. S. Navy in 1943 and served in Illinois, Oklahoma and Texas, until 1946. Ted returned to Menomonie and began working for his father, at Richartz Implement. Ted married Nira B. Block February 12, 1949 in Menomonie. Ted eventually took over the family business after the death of his father in 1950. Ted and Nira operated Richartz Implement for 38 years, retiring in 1988.

Ted was an active member of the community. Ted was a member of the Wisconsin Implement Dealers Association, serving as President from 1970 to 1971. Ted was a member of the Menomonie Lions Club since 1947, and served as President from 1980-81; he was a member of Menomonie Chamber of Commerce and also served as President. Ted also received the Menomonie Chamber of Commerce’s “Distinguished Citizen of the Year” in 1988. He was a great Benefactor for the American Legion Post 32 Baseball Team. Ted was an avid Packer Fan and was a Charter and founding member of the Menomonie Packer Backer Club. Ted was also a Charter and a Co-founding member of the Greater Menomonie Advisory Council.

Ted is survived by (his wife, Nira) three sons, William “Bill”; Jerome “Jerry” and Jim (Cathy) all of Menomonie; two daughters, Roxanne (Terry) Malum of Amery; Peggy (Al Grabowski) Richartz of Menomonie; 12 grandchildren, Aaron (Jamie), Graydon, Nathan, Corbin (Becky) and Dinah Richartz; Jamie (Jared) Saxton and Willie Richartz; Daniel, Kathleen and Brad Malum; Jenn and Jill Schultz; six great grandchildren, Blais and Brigs Richartz and Benjamin Creaser; Kali Saxton; Kinleigh and Breckin Richartz two sisters, Leone Hanson of Charlotte, NC and Lucille Hammond of Menomonie.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Jeanne McDonell and Virginia Browne.
