Dr. Merlin W Groskopp
Dr. Merlin W. Groskopp, age 84 of Lakeland FL and most recently Colfax, died Monday, December 29, 2008 at the Red Cedar Medical Center in Menomonie.
Merlin was born on May 23, 1924 in Frederic. He was the son of Raymond and Esther (Nelson) Groskopp. Merlin graduated from Grantsburg High School and attended River Falls State College. After school, he enlisted in the Air Force during WWII. Merlin served as a pilot with the 9th Air Force and Air Transport Command. On June 21, 1947, Merlin married his high school sweetheart Loris Anderson in Grantsburg. After marriage, Merlin went to the Logan Chiropractic College and took post graduate work at Palmer Chiropractic College. Merlin began his own practice at Clear Lake in 1950 and retired in 1987. During this time, Merlin was a member of the Wisconsin and International Chiropractic Associations, a member of the First Lutheran Church, Boy Scouts, Order of the Arrow, the Masons, the Shriners, as well as the VFW and the American Legion.
Merlin was enthusiastic and successful in many endeavors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and always enjoyed a round of golf. He was a loving husband, wonderful father and loyal friend. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity and great sense of humor.
Merlin, thank you for all the happiness you brought to so many. You will be greatly missed, we love you.
Merlin is survived by his wife of 61 years, Loris, one daughter Patricia (Bill) Liebich of Colfax, one son Dr. William (Theresa) of Menasha, five grandchildren, Clair Groskopp of Neenah, Dana (Alex) Zarling and Ryan Ellickson, both of Menasha, Trent Liebich of Hudson, ME and Julie Liebich of Chicago, IL, one brother Myron Groskopp of Stevens Point, two nieces, Pam (John) Flaherty of Woodbury, MN and Dr. Kris (Dan) Lynd of Medford, OR, sisters-in-law Louise Smith of St. Paul and Lucille (Travis) Olson of Traverse City, MI, many nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.
