Roger H. Olson
Roger H. Olson, age 83 of Arkansaw, died Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at Advent Health in Durand.
Roger was born on December 2, 1936 in the Bogus Valley area of Pepin. He was the son of Alfred and Alice (Haglund) Olson. At a young age, Roger moved with his family to Plum City, where he grew up and graduated from Plum City High School in 1954. After high school, Roger went to work at a metal factory in St. Paul, MN for several years. Roger married his sweetheart, Faye Manor on June 21, 1958. After marriage, Roger drove truck for a short time. Roger and Faye moved to Arkansaw, where they raised their family. He then went to work Bauer Built, Safeway Foods, Presto and Weiser Concrete. Roger worked at Weiser Concrete as a truck driver for over 30 years before retiring 2003.
Roger started playing guitar in the early 1960’s. He found a passion for music and played many local places in the area as apart of the Arkansaw Travelers. They played in to the mid 1990’s. Roger also played with Putter Bauer and Foosy Bauer into the late 2000’s.
Roger is survived by his children; Jody (Trish) of Durand, Monica (Mike) Starkey of River Falls, Randy (Cindy) of Arkansaw and Michelle (Rick) Munson of Caladonia, MN, 11 grandchildren and four great grandsons, one sister; Lois Freie of St. Louis Park, MN, several sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife; Faye, two brothers; Willard and Byron and three sisters; Ruby Olson, Dorothy Olson and Evelyn Kassera.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
