Albert C Johnson

Albert C. Johnson, age 92 of Plum City, formerly of Durand, died Sunday, June 3, 2018 at the Plum City Care Center in Plum City.

Al was born on June 8, 1925 he was the son of Pauline Strittmatter. Al served in WWII from 1943-1946. Al married Ruth Stanek on October 2, 1948 in LaCrosse. Al worked for Allis Chalmers in LaCrosse from 1946-1969. He then moved with his wife and children to Durand where he accepted a job with Northern WI Manufacturing Company of Pepin. Al was co-owner and Vice President from 1969 to his retirement in 1989. Al was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Parish and a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Moose Lodge.

Al enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, hunting ginseng, traveling with his wife and spending time with family and friends.

Al is survived by his children; Tom (Harriet) of Bolingbrook, IL, Steve (Shirley) of Nipomo, CA, Sue (Steve) Forster of Bloomington, MN, Richard (Ruth) of Blaine, MN, and Jane (Steve) Thompson of Eau Claire, 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM Thursday, June 7, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Durand with Rev. Paul Bosco officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Military Honors performed by the Durand American Legion Post #181 of Durand. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

    We had the pleasure of knowing Al & Ruth during there time in Plum City. They were devoted to each other. Their faith gave them strength during the challenges of recent time. Al so enjoyed a recent visit to our place & a DQ ice cream cone 2 weeks ago. Rest in peace, Al. Our sympathy to his family.
