Lowell H. Norrish
Lowell H. Norrish, 90, of Rock Falls passed away Thursday March 1, 2018 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.
Lowell was born on January 9, 1928, at home in rural Rock Falls. The eldest son of Harold and Cleo (Holbrook) Norrish, Lowell grew up in the Rock Falls area and graduated from Durand High School. After high school, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Germany before being Honorably Discharged. Lowell married Elaine Falkner on May 12, 1951 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima. After marriage, Lowell farmed and worked for American Materials. Lowell was a member of the Operating Engineers Local #139 and retired from American Materials after 41 years.
Lowell and Elaine loved traveling and square dancing. They enjoyed many destination bus trips and trips to see family in Montana and California. Lowell loved gardening in his large garden and walking on Hemlock Road. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Lowell is survived by Elaine his wife of 66 years; five children Charlene (LeRoy) Books of Whitefish, MT; Randy (Judy) of Durand; Ron (Laurie) of Livermore, CA; Karen (Tim) Troyer, of Stanley; and Roger of Rock Falls; 12 grandchildren LeAnn (Bill), Brandon (Friend, Michaela), Scott (Kim), Brad (Alea), Holly, Christina, Amanda, Shawn (Fiancé Oliva), Ryan (Friend, April), Jody (Pete), Tami, Jodi (Harley); nine great grandchildren Brayden, Aaren, Jackson, Kane, Lauren, Adria, Kendan, Jamie, and Jake; one brother Dennis (Cherilyn) of Rock Falls; two sisters Darlene Bauer and Dorothy Prissel both of Durand; sister-in-law Jean Falkner, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law Jane Norrish, brothers-in-law Ralph Bauer, Robert Prissel, and Frank Falkner, and sister-in-law Anna Marie Crockett.
Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM Thursday March 8, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rock Falls. Rev. Joseph C. Nakwah will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Military Honors Provided by the Durand American Legion Post #181 of Durand. Visitation will be from 4:00PM – 7:00 PM Wednesday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
