Stanley J. Jesse
Stanley J. Jesse “Shorty”, age 70 of Durand, died Sunday, December 31, 2017 at the American Lutheran Home in Mondovi with his family by his side.
Stan was born on January 21, 1947 in Menomonie. He was the son of Bernice (Boigenzahn) Jesse. Stan grew up in the Durand area, attended St. Mary’s School and graduated from Durand High school in 1965. After high school, Stan worked at Rivera Cabinets in Red Wing, MN until he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1966. Stan served Stateside and was Honorably Discharged in 1968. Stan married Sharon Bauer on May 24, 1969 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima. After marriage, Stan and Sharon lived and raised their family in the Town of Lima, rural Durand. Stan worked for the Pope & Talbot (Cascade Tissue) for 41 and a half years before retiring in 2009. He then worked for Hurlburt Heating in the warehouse for a couple of years.
In retirement, Stan enjoyed helping his children with their handy man projects, going to the casino and taking bus trips with Sharon, attending all of his grandchildren’s school and sporting events. He also remained active at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. If you couldn’t find Stan at his grandchildren’s school or sporting event, he could be found in his garage detailing cars, especially his 1968 convertible getting it ready for a car show.
Stan is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sharon, children; Tammy (Matt) Wegner, Tim (Katie), Tess (Tony) Gunderson, all of Durand and Todd (Gentry) of Gilmanton, 17 grandchildren; Teisha (Britt), Allie (Austin), Trevor, Mandy, Briana, Breck, Ally, Bailey, Bridget, Jacob, Chloie, Taylor, Chase, Maverick, Levi, Sawyer and Flint, aunt; Charlotte Boigenzahn, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, his maternal grandparents; Ed and Lucy Boigenzahn and his uncles; Don and Ed Boigenzahn and his father and mother-in-law; Gilbert and Betty Bauer.
Funeral Mass will be 11:30 AM Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima, rural Durand. Rev. Amir Stanislaus will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Durand American Legion Post #181 of Durand. Visitation will be from 4:00PM - 7:30PM Wednesday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
Because of Stan’s love of Ford’s and cars, the family will be wearing Ford shirts and invite you to wear your favorite car brand attire to the visitation in honor of Stan.
