Mary A Klukas
Mary A. Klukas age 85 of Menomonie, died Sunday October 15, 2017 at The Neighbors of Dunn County in Menomonie.
Mary was born August 15, 1932 in Jamestown, North Dakota. She was the daughter of Arthur and Marguerite (Dunn) Thorson and as a young child she moved to Menomonie with her family. Mary attended St. Joseph’s elementary school and graduated from Menomonie High School in 1950. After high school, Mary moved to the Twin Cities and did Secretarial work for several years. Mary married Roger H. Klukas May 13, 1961 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Menomonie and they made their home in Colfax. She worked for the Colfax Dairy Lab as a secretar, and later did in home child care and accounting work. In 1992 they moved to Menomonie where she has remained the rest of her life.
Mary was very talented at crocheting and knitting, making afghans, blankets, poncho’s for her nieces and families. She enjoyed cooking and baking and was well known for her homemade buns and lasagna. She also enjoyed reading and visiting with family and friends. Mary was a loving, helpful and caring person and her Catholic faith was very important to her.
Mary is survived by her husband Roger of 56 years, a daughter Gina Klukas of Wisconsin Rapids, a sister, Helen (Gary) Larson of Menomonie, sisters-in-law, Rose Thorson of Hudson and Jean Thorson of Minneapolis, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Margaret Ann Paulson Sterling, four brothers, Art, Francis, Thomas and Robert.
Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Menomonie with Rev James Kurzinsky officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
