Karen M. Vaver
Karen M. Vaver, age 71 of Menomonie, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 7, 2017 at Glenhaven Nursing Home in Glenwood City.
Karen was born on January 27, 1946, in Menomonie to Harold and Helen (Ponto) Weaver. After lettering in gymnastics, she graduated in 1964 from Menomonie High School and was proud to be a Menomonie Indian fan. After finishing school to be a laboratory technician she relocated toRochester, MN to work at the Mayo Clinic. She moved back to Menomonie in 1972 to marry the love of her life, James Vaver, on May 20, 1972 in Menomonie, WI at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. To this union of marriage was born two sons, Scot and Brian.
She was a homemaker until 1986 and then returned to school at CVTC to become a CNA and worked for both the American Lutheran Home and the Dunn County Health Care Center. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and a member of the VFW Auxiliary post 1039 for many years. She enjoyed her family and loved playing bingo.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to all of Karen’s caregivers both in-home and at Glenhaven Nursing Home. You made her time with you a wonderful experience of not only caring, but also new friends.
Karen is survived by her husband, James Vaver, sons Scot (Pam) Vaver of Eau Claire, WI and Brian (Anne) Vaver of Eau Claire, WI, a sister Susan (Paul) Lemke, of La Quinta, CA, two granddaughters, Josephine and Charlotte and one grandson Walker.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Karen’s service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday August 12, 2017 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Menomonie (1100 9th St.) with Rev. Aaron Schulz officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
